Photo locations

Hello Katarzyna,

here is a small overview of our possible photo locations. 🙂

This is a location overview map, Google maps online link is HERE. We tried our best to find some arches for you, unfortunately they are very untypical for our architecture and it is really hard to find them. And if you find them, generally they are too high. But check below and see 🙂

1. Maršovský mlýn

We have two stables in Maršov, a modern one in Maršov where stallions and horses in training are located and Maršovský mlýn, where are stud mares and foals. You can see both locations for example in this GALLERY

2. Mikulov

Mikulov is a lovely little town near Austria. There is a very nice castle on the rocky hill and lovely small French garden. Not many arches though. The photo shooting is possible in there. There is quite a lot of people around as this place is very popular with tourists, but in the later afternoon it would be OK I guess and also the western sun would be perfect. We were there at around 10 AM.

3. Chrám Tří Grácií

We were there just to check but it seems to us that the arches and columns are too high, the place was overcrowded and the atmosphere there was not ideal, so I guess this is NO GO.

4. Kolonáda na Reistně

As we were in the area we also visited this place. Not so many people, a nice atmosphere of the place and quite a lot of space. The columns are too high too for you I suppose. We were there at around 13:45.

5. Valtice

Really lovely chateau in the French style. We found some arches, but not much 🙂 See the photos below. The atmosphere of the chateau is very nice. We would be allowed to photoshoot there, but we would need to sign some contract first. It would cost a few thousand (they promised not much) and Gabriela (the stable owner) is willing to pay for it if you choose this location. They would help us to restrict tourists a little bit to we have some more room for taking pictures. We were there at about 14:00.

6. Bučovice

At least we managed to find some arches. The castle is not very nice from the outside but surprisingly nice inside 🙂 We were there at 16:00, if we need the sun in the columns, we need to come in the morning/ close to noon, as the quad has very high walls. The fountain is lovely too. We were given permission to photoshoot in there.

6. Slavkov

Another French style castle close to Bučovice. We didn’t ask for permission, but since everywhere else it was possible, I believe there shouldn’t be any problem. We were there at around 17:00. They were preparing some concert in there, normally the quad should be empty.

7. Sand quarry Rudice

We were not there yet but I spoke with the mayor of the village. He said that access to the quarry is forbidden so he can’t give us official permission but if he knows about us, he will tolerate it. And he wants some photo from there too 🙂

8. Veveří Castle

Veveří castle is situated just a few kilometers from Maršov, so from this point of view it is idea for us. Gábina was there at around 17:00 and no one was there. They would allow us to photoshoot from 18:00 when the castle is closed so nobody would disturb us. Nothing is problem for the responsible ones there and we could do whatever we want there.

.................................................................................................

So this is what we have so far 🙂 As I said, arches are not typical at all for the architecture of Southern Moravia. What is very typical here on the other hand are vineyards. Here is an example of a photoshooting in the vineyards. That’s my horse and me, just for an ilustration 😀
